And now for it's original notes...
I'd like to make this clear, what I find so terribly odd (though I really should be used to it by now) isn't that my mom wouldn't do what I ask. Despite my constant flood of incredible ideas, I'm chronically accustomed to not being listened to by many people.
What feels so crazy, is that she doesn't understand why I'd want to be listened to. She seems genuinely baffled by the idea that the wants of others don't mirror her own exactly.
I'm not saying that my mom's a dick; in fact, that's the problem! If she didn't care about anyone else, I'd be able to either appeal to her selfish nature for a "quid pro quo" kinda deal, or just except her nature and move on. But as is, I have no real recourse.
I know that's why I'm so selfish, it's the least I could do to convenience those around me.

Sounds like she's one of those control freaks. Everything has to go her way or its no way at all. I don't hang with those types at all period for good reasons. They are just trouble usually. But I can see that can be hard when one of them is your own mother or close family member.
