A comic from my journal comic series "The Secret Life of a Journal Comic". You can read more at my main site at www.journalcomic.com
And now for it's original notes...
I wasn't sure which line from Edgar Allan Poe's elusive poem "Alone" I should reference as the title, "In its autumn tint of gold" or "From the torrent, or the fountain". But in either case I got to turn a classic literary reference that most people wouldn't get into a reference to urine, so I figured I couldn't go wrong either way.
Constructing the onomonopeea for micturition (that's urination (sorry, I just didn't want to say "urine" again)) was also a unique challenge for this comic, but I digress.
It's odd to realize that until now I've never lived completely on my own, I've always had some kind of roommate, and while I'm pretty easy going when it comes to living with people, I have to say that the experience of living alone is quite invigorating.
I wouldn't go as far as to call it "the heroin of living situations" or anything. I'll be fine going back to civilian life, in which I'll have to act civil towards another human being each and every day. But it's good to remind myself that I should really become rich enough to live alone comfortably before I get married and have to share all that with someone else.
Or maybe I shouldn't; they always tell you not to try heroin even once.
